PRESS RELEASE – FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Moon Nazis In Negotiations With Chinese Pirates
Instead of suing the game company that made an unlicensed game about the film, the creators of Iron Sky are in negotiations with the company to make a legit iPad game.
September 28th 2011 – Helsinki/Finland — A few weeks ago the creators of the Finnish-German-Australian dark sci-fi comedy Iron Sky got a nasty surprise when they learned that a Chinese gaming company called Ziiso was making an unlicensed iPad game about the film. The filmmakers made a formal complaint to Apple, who pulled the game from the store in two days.
The people at Ziiso apologized to the Iron Sky team in an interview by the largest newspaper in Finland, Helsingin Sanomat. The filmmakers responded with a blog post, where they invited the company to the negotiation table.
“The honest and heartfelt apology by Ziiso and their willingness to correct their error convinced me that we could co-operate with them on the game project”, said the director of Iron Sky, Timo Vuorensola. “We are currently negotiating with Ziiso about revamping the game and publishing it as part of the official Iron Sky merchandise line-up.”
“They say that an attack is the best form of defense, but instead of a costly legal battle we decided to try and strike a deal. If this succeeds, everybody wins,” said the producer of Iron Sky, Tero Kaukomaa. “Iron Sky is not just a film, but a whole family of products. We have a comic coming out in the very near future, and later we will publish a board game and a videogame of our own. We are always looking for interesting new prospects and partners for expanding the Iron Sky universe.”
