Iron Sky is an international co-production by Blind Spot Pictures & Energia Productions from Finland, 27 Films from Germany and New Holland Pictures from Australia. The film will be produced by an international team based in Helsinki, Finland with filming taking place in Germany and Australia.

Timo Vuorensola is a Finnish director. He spent seven years on his first feature-length film, the science fiction comedy Star Wreck: In the Pirkinning. Timo has also directed short films, music videos and adverts. He’s interested in finding new ways to approach the film industry, and has traveled the world talking about engaging online communities in film production.

Samuli Torssonen was the driving force behind Star Wreck, and started work on the series of science fiction parodies in 1992. Now he is working on Iron Sky as a producer and as the head of the CGI department. Samuli is one of the most skilled CGI artists in Finland and his passion is creating incredible visual effects and huge space battles, but he wants to see them in a story which people will not easily forget.

Science fiction writer Johanna Sinisalo has had five novels and more than 40 short stories published. She has been nominated for the Nebula Award and won the prestigious Finlandia Prize for her first novel, Not Before Sundown (aka. Troll – A Love Story). In addition she has worked in advertising and written numerous screenplays for TV. Johanna has brought a strong professionalism to the scriptwriting process, helping to turn ideas into a story.

Michael Kalesniko wrote Howard Stern’s Private Parts and wrote and directed the comedy hit How to Kill Your Neighbor’s Dog (starring Kenneth Branagh & Robin Wright Penn). “Neighbor’s Dog” won numerous international festival awards and was the closing night gala of the 2000 Toronto International Film Festival. Kalesniko has written for the likes of Will Smith, Keanu Reeves, Julia Roberts and Billy Crystal. His first novel, Pucker Up, is scheduled for publication in the spring of 2011. Previously, Kalesniko has worked as a newspaper reporter, a high school teacher in the arctic, a London bartender and a grave digger.

Today Jarmo is the community manager for Iron Sky, keeping the community and websites up to date. Which is fitting since it was Jarmo’s run-away movie idea about nazis on the moon that started the whole thing.
